Chemistry is an integral part of the Cultural Heritage of Europe. For this reason, some of EuChemS Member Societies award National Historical Landmarks to sites which have played a significant role in the History of Chemistry. Hence, these programmes were set up to identify sites with scientific heritage. They also aim to bring to the general public some sense of how chemistry is part of the general cultural heritage and history of every European citizen.
