ECTN Teaching and Learning in STEM Summer Schools: “Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School 2026

Many lecturers in Chemistry and other STEM disciplines (STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) are still hesitant to adopt active learning approaches, such as questioning techniques and collaborative learning, even though these approaches are already widely accepted as educational goals at many universities. The “Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently teach using questioning techniques, effectively support collaborative learning among students, and implement teaching and learning methods such as POGIL and SCALE-UP.
Following its great success last year, this Summer School in the “Teaching and Learning in Higher Education STEM” series is being organized by the ECTN Eurolecturer Academy for the second time. The Summer School is a pre-event of the ECTN General Assembly and therefore a special opportunity for ECTN delegates to attend two events in one trip.
The “Question-Driven Learning in STEM” Summer School offers a range of inspiring workshops, collaborative group sessions, and in-depth discussions at both course and curriculum level. Sessions include, among others, “Active learning through questioning: what or why?” and “Diversity and inclusion in question-driven learning”. See the full programme:
