Governance

The EuChemS Division of Glycoscience has opened the application process to establish the committee. Committee delegate applications can be submitted through the EuChemS Submission Portal. To allow for better coordination of activities across Europe, the Division of Glycoscience would particularly like to see applications from delegates who are involved in Glycoscience organisations at a national and European level. We strongly encourage applications at all career stages and hope to put together a committee which is balanced across gender, geographic location, scientific discipline and career stage.

Task Groups of the Division of Glycoscience

A broad communicative basis would be achieved by cooperation with relevant international bodies through encouraging and supporting EU conferences and coordination of EU wide research initiatives. Aspects of importance in or to Glycoscience which need regulation, harmonization, standardization or codification, particularly surrounding Analytical Glycoscience will be addressed. The Division will work to support meetings, consortiums, European exchanges, collaborations, and networking – including young researchers and emeriti and will hold a strong EDI agenda

The Division of Glycoscience will facilitate engagement between key players and stakeholders of the Glycoscience community across Europe to identify the current state of the art and in particular future innovation and technological challenges. The Division will ensure Glycoscience research is represented across Europe and is a priority for future EU funding. It will also safeguard the interests of the Glycoscience community, especially concerning recognition and legitimation in matters of regulation and legislation

Glycoscience is often viewed as a niche area, and exposure to education in Glycoscience is inconsistent from institute to institute and across Europe. Exposure to Glycoscience at undergraduate level significantly impacts the transition of researchers into the field. The Division will aim to address this disparity and provide free to access e-learning content at all levels to encourage access to high quality accurate Glycoscience educational materials.

The Division will orchestrate large scale, strategic initiatives across Europe – in medicine, agriculture, manufacturing, and sustainability and organise working groups to facilitate contact to industry, support large-scale infrastucture investment, and coordinate large EU grant applications.
