Turkish Chemical Society – New President

Professor Bahattin Yalçin is the new President of Türkiye Kimya Dernegi – the Turkish Chemical Society.

He was born in Istanbul in 1967. He graduated from Istanbul University Engineering Faculty Department of Chemistry in 1991. He worked at Ilsan-Iltas Pharmaceutical Inc. for a short while. He became a research assistant at Marmara University in 1991. He completed his master and doctorate degrees at Marmara University in 1995 and 1999. He became a board member of the Centre for Natural Herbs and Water Products in 2009 and the Centre for Applied Environmental Research in 2010. He had been working as an assistant professor in 2005-2010, as an associate professor in 2010-2015 at Marmara University, Department of Chemistry. Since 2015, he has been working as a professor at Marmara University, Department of Chemistry. He was a board member of the Turkish Chemical Society in 2010-2012. After, he became a vice chairman in 2012-2014. Currently, he is the president of the Turkish Chemical Society. He is married and the father of two children.
