Questionnaire for Member Societies on The International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements

Home » Questionnaire for Member Societies on The International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements

The United Nations has designated 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT). We expect that celebrations throughout the year will significantly enhance global awareness of chemistry. EuChemS is considering developing and promoting various activities for the IYPT and we would like to ask for input from the Member Societies.

We would be interested to learn about planned and possible activities of your society in your own country and in the EU or if you plan to organise something globally. EuChemS can promote your activities throughout the EuChemS network. We are planning to set up a special part of the EuChemS webpage for this if there is enough interest from the Member Societies.

Following discussions at the General Assembly in Rome and the Executive Board in Berlin, EuChemS is still considering whether to provide a periodic table for schools. We are keen to have a better idea of the views of Member Societies, so ask you to answer the questions below. If the scheme goes ahead, it is probable that the periodic table would highlight the availability of elements and the extent to which they are endangered (supplies likely to run out in the near to medium future). It would be supported by videos and a computer game.

Please complete the questionnaire by 31 May 2018.
