European Symposium on Analytical Spectrometry (ESAS), first held in 2008, is a biennial premier scientific conference with a strong emphasis on atomic spectrometry.
It is a direct continuation of two former, long-established scientific conference series, namely the International Solid Sampling Colloquium (ISSC, established in 1984 in Wetzlar, Germany) and the European Furnace Symposium (EFS, established in 1994 in Warsaw, Poland).
Since then it has been organized by the founding chemical societies of Germany, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary in every other year, apart from the disruption caused in 2020 by the covid pandemic.
