The European Chemical Society (EuChemS) took part in the recent ECTN General Assembly and Annual Meeting, held in Bologna, Italy, from 29 to 31 May 2025.

EuChemS, as a proud member of the European Chemistry Thematic Network (ECTN), was represented at the event by its Secretary General, Nineta Hrastelj, and President, Angela Agostiano. Both actively participated in discussions on professional development for STEM educators, innovative teaching practices, and the future of chemistry education in Europe.

Hosted by ECTN, this annual event brought together educators, researchers, and stakeholders to explore the latest developments in teaching and learning in higher education chemistry. The programme featured sessions of ECTN Working Groups and Standing Committees, alongside plenary lectures from leading voices in the field. Invited speakers included Martyn Poliakoff from the University of Nottingham, who presented “Teaching Green Chemistry for a Changing World”, and Margherita Venturi from the University of Bologna, who delivered a lecture titled “The Periodic Table Women.”

The event was open to all with a strong interest in advancing the quality and impact of chemistry in higher education.

EuChemS looks forward to continuing its collaboration with ECTN and contributing to the future of chemistry education across Europe.
