Born: Wernigerode (Prussian Saxony), 1743
Died: Berlin (Germany)
Klaproth studied pharmacy in Quedlinburg (1750-1763), in Hamburg, in Berlin and in Danzig. From 1780 he worked in his own pharmacy. He discovered zirconium (1789), strontium (1793), titanium (1795), chromium (1797), tellurium (1789) and cerium (1803). In 1890 he became professor at the newly established university in Berlin.
