The third of edition of Chemistry in Europe this year was recently published and contains a number of interesting articles focusing on a range of news stories, initiatives and thoughtful analyses. The Editorial has been written by Javier Garcia Martinez, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Alicante, Spain, and who was recently elected IUPAC President-elect for the 2022-2023 biennium. Javier looks back at the history of IUPAC and its relevancy today whilst looking at the meaning of Chemistry and its role in solving many challenges our society faces. The newsletter also includes a policy focus on what the recent EU elections mean for research funding in Europe; highlights from our young chemists; news from our Member Societies and insights into the latest EuChemS Historical Landmarks Award, IUPAC centenary and more besides.
