EuChemS is pleased to announce that Magnus J. Johansson, Senior Principal Scientist at AstraZeneca, has been selected as the 2024 EuChemS Industry Innovation Awardee. Recognised for his leadership in precision catalysis and sustainable medicinal chemistry, Dr Johansson has advanced green-chemistry principles in drug discovery while mentoring future scientists and contributing widely to the chemical community.
EuChemS will host its next Global Women’s Breakfast on 10 February 2026, focusing on “Shaping Responsible Chemistry: The Strategic Role of Women in Europe.” This online event will highlight how women chemists drive responsible, collaborative, and interdisciplinary science across Europe, strengthening communication, building networks, and connecting chemistry with societal needs.
During the 2025 EuChemS General Assembly in Poznań, three new members were elected to the EuChemS Executive Board. Their mandate will begin in January 2026.
Hans Peter Lüthi has been re-elected as EuChemS Treasurer during the 2025 General Assembly in Poznań, extending his mandate until 2028. With extensive experience in financial governance and a distinguished academic career in computational chemistry, he continues to play a key role in supporting EuChemS’ strategic direction.
The European Chemical Society (EuChemS) congratulates Wolfram Koch on his election as President-Elect during the 2025 EuChemS General Assembly in Poznań, Poland. A distinguished chemist and long-time contributor to EuChemS and GDCh, Professor Koch brings decades of experience in theoretical chemistry and scientific leadership. He will officially assume the role of President on 1 January 2027, guiding EuChemS in its mission to strengthen collaboration and innovation across Europe’s chemical community.
