EuChemS attended ENRIO 2025 Congress on research integrity practice

Sep 24, 2025

From 22–24 September 2025, Ljubljana, Slovenia, hosted the ENRIO 2025 Congress on Research Integrity Practice, an European forum exploring how institutions can foster openness, safety, and fairness in research. Organised by the European Network of Research Integrity Offices (ENRIO) and the University of Ljubljana, the biennial event gathered experts in research ethics and integrity, research funding representatives, and practitioners from across Europe. EuChemS Secretary General Nineta Hrastelj attended the Congress, reinforcing EuChemS’ commitment to advancing a strong culture of research integrity.

The 2025 edition focused on how power dynamics and institutional responsibility shape the daily practice of science. Sessions examined issues such as discrimination and abuse of authority, conflicts of interest, pressures in funding, and the responsible use of AI, highlighting the need for equitable research environments that support collaboration and innovation.

The discussions echoed the principles set out in ENRIO’s “Research Integrity as a Safeguard for the Freedom of Scientific Research in Responsible International Collaborations” statement, which underscores that protecting integrity is fundamental to preserving scientific freedom and building trust in global partnerships.

By taking part in ENRIO 2025, EuChemS aligns with the broader European effort to ensure that chemistry and all scientific disciplines are conducted in a climate of fairness, transparency, and accountability, enabling researchers to work responsibly across borders and disciplines.
