Our Mission
The EuChemS Division of Chemical Education is committed to strengthening the role of chemistry education across Europe and beyond. We believe that high-quality education in chemistry is essential for preparing future scientists, addressing global challenges, and fostering a scientifically literate and engaged society.
Our mission is guided by three key goals:
- To identify and promote innovative activities that advance chemical education research and practice in Europe.
We support creative approaches to teaching and learning in chemistry as well as in chemistry education research, encourage interdisciplinary perspectives, and provide a platform for sharing effective methodologies, tools, and pedagogical strategies. Through conferences, working groups, collaborative projects, and publications, we aim to drive continuous development in both formal and informal chemistry education practices and research contexts. - To promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in chemistry education.
We are committed to creating accessible, inclusive, and equitable learning environments. Our goal is to support underrepresented groups, reduce barriers to participation, and empower all students and educators—regardless of gender, background, or circumstance. We believe that inclusive education is not only a matter of fairness but also a driver of excellence, innovation, and societal progress. - To improve the dissemination and exchange of information across countries.
We promote international collaboration by connecting educators, researchers, and institutions from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. By facilitating dialogue and knowledge exchange, we foster mutual learning, encourage best-practice sharing, and support a more coherent and forward-looking vision for chemistry education in Europe.
Together, these goals reflect our dedication to building a resilient, collaborative, and future-oriented chemical education community across Europe.
