2026 EuChemS Annual Meetings

The 2026 EuChemS Annual Meetings, kindly hosted by the Serbian Chemical Society, took place from 12 to 14 October at the Palace of Science in Belgrade, Serbia.

On 12 October, the Executive Board met to discuss EuChemS’ strategic direction and ongoing collaborations.

2026 General Assembly

The following day, the Business Session of the General Assembly, open to EuChemS Member Organisations with voting rights, took place. During the session, chaired by EuChemS President Angela Agostiano, Member Societies approved the budget for the coming year and finalised financial matters relating to the previous year. A highlight of the day was the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Royal Society of Chemistry and a partnership agreement with Chemistry Europe, marking an important strategic milestone for EuChemS.

On Wednesday, the Open Session of the General Assembly brought together representatives of EuChemS Member Societies, Supporting Members, the Executive Board, and Professional Network boards to review EuChemS’ activities and achievements over the past year. During the session, Peter Gärtner and Walter Schneider, Co-Chairs of the Organising Committee of the 11th EuChemS Chemistry Congress (ECC11), presented the congress venue and invited all Member Societies to attend the upcoming event, which will take place in Vienna in 2028.

EuChemS also expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Angela Agostiano, who has served as EuChemS President since 2024. She will conclude her term at the end of 2026 and continue her service as Vice-President. On behalf of the organisation, EuChemS President-Elect Wolfram Koch and Secretary General Nineta Hrastelj thanked her for her dedication, leadership, and invaluable contributions to EuChemS.

2026 Professional Networks meeting

The 2026 EuChemS Annual Meetings concluded on Wednesday afternoon with the Professional Networks meeting, bringing together representatives of the Divisions, Working Parties, and the European Young Chemists’ Network (EYCN) to discuss their latest initiatives and strategic collaborations. The meeting focused on strengthening connections within and beyond the chemistry community, particularly through upcoming scientific events and cross-network partnerships.
