Brussels News Update - May 2021

Hey, welcome to the Brussels News Updates (BNU), EuChemS’ newsletter for policy makers, chemists, entrepreneurs, and citizens who have an interest in chemistry. The BNU newsletter keeps you up to date on the latest chemistry-related and science-policy news, awards, consultations, and upcoming events in Europe and beyond.

What a month it has been for science-policy activities! After hosting its successful webinar on The Carbon Element, EuChemS participated in the first meeting of the “High Level Roundtable on the implementation of the Chemicals Strategy” of the European Commission. We also answered to the Public Consultation on Soil Strategy.

In May, we bring you updates on Horizon Europe and on the European Climate Law. Furthermore, you will find news about ECHA’s Drinking Water Directive, EFSA’s recommendations on banning E171 from food products, the launch of the rural development manifesto, and much more!

Last but not least, we are delighted to announce the two winners of the 2020 EuChemS Award for Service: from all of us, congratulations to Antonio Laganà and Jan Mehlich!

Is there anything that you would like to read about in the next issue of the BNU? Let us know!
