{"id":8918,"date":"2021-04-15T09:54:35","date_gmt":"2021-04-15T08:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/?p=8918"},"modified":"2021-04-15T11:14:08","modified_gmt":"2021-04-15T10:14:08","slug":"unesco-international-research-centre-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/unesco-international-research-centre-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO\u2019s new International Research Centre on AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 30 and 31 March 2021, the UNESCO\u2019s International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence (<a href=\"https:\/\/ircai.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IRCAI<\/a>) was inaugurated online by the Republic of Slovenia\u2019s President, Borut Pahor, and the UNESCO\u2019s Director General, Audrey Azoulay. This Center is under the auspices of UNESCO at Jo\u017eef Stefan Institute (JSI), Ljubljana, Slovenia. IRCAI\u2019s objectives are to provide a coordination point, funding route and exploitation accelerator for approaches to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that make use of AI.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Opening speeches introduced the audience to the IRCAI project and the many contributions from Slovenia in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recent years; for which it was selected. Emphasis was put on transparency, gender balance and how a more ethical AI would help reach the United Nations\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">17 SDGs<\/a> by 2030.
