BAT conclusions are the technical basis for competent authorities in EU countries to set permit conditions for the installations concerned, as stipulated by the <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/industry\/stationary\/ied\/legislation.htm\">Industrial Emissions Directive<\/a>. BAT conclusions aim to achieve a high level of protection of the environment under economically and technically viable conditions.
