In total, 450 million euros will be allocated to the winning researchers. As part of the Horizon 2020 programme, this funding will help strengthen Europe\u2019s knowledge base in all fields of research. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/erc.europa.eu\/news\/erc-2019-advanced-grants-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ERC Press Release<\/a>, these new projects are expected to create 1,800 new jobs for post-doctoral fellows, PhD students and other research staff.<\/p>\n<p>The list of 185 winners is divided in three main domains: <u>Physical Sciences and Engineering<\/u>, <u>Life Sciences<\/u> and <u>Social Sciences and Humanities<\/u>. Among the winners in the field of chemistry, some of the listed research topics are \u201c<em>Chemical Space for Antimicrobials on a Peptide Basis\u201d <\/em>of Jean-Louis Reymond, \u201c<em>Old Chemistry for Advanced Materials: Empowering Carbon Chemistry Using Lost Chemistry\u201d <\/em>of Markus Antonietti, \u201c<em>Chiral Aqueous-phase Chemistry\u201d <\/em>of Bernd Winter and \u201c<em>Artificial Translation with Dynamic Foldamers: Relaying Encoded Messages into Chemical Function\u201d<\/em> of Jonathan Clayden.
