{"id":5509,"date":"2019-03-15T08:26:22","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T07:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/?p=5509"},"modified":"2019-03-15T09:56:16","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T08:56:16","slug":"horizon-europe-deal-on-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/horizon-europe-deal-on-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Horizon Europe: deal on time?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the European Parliament have urged that a preliminary deal on Horizon Europe be made ahead of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/at-your-service\/en\/be-heard\/elections\">May European elections<\/a>, even if some matters, including the budget, would have to be settled after the new Parliament reports <a href=\"https:\/\/sciencebusiness.net\/framework-programmes\/news\/meps-push-horizon-europe-deal\">ScienceBusiness<\/a>,.<\/p>\n<p>Negotiations are currently at an impasse over a range of issues, including who would define the \u2018Missions\u2019 and the role of the funding programme in bridging the innovation gap between eastern and western Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/en\/press-room\/20190306IPR30455\/meps-urge-member-states-not-to-jeopardise-important-eu-research-projects\">Parliament presented several compromises<\/a> on key issues in order to secure an agreement with the Member States, who will be meeting this week for more negotiation sessions.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2018, EuChemS published a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/EuChemS-Position-Paper-and-amendments-for-Horizon-Europe.pdf\">position paper<\/a> together with amendments on the European Parliament&#8217;s proposal for Horizon Europe.
