{"id":12868,"date":"2022-01-14T10:27:47","date_gmt":"2022-01-14T09:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/?p=12868"},"modified":"2022-01-14T10:56:58","modified_gmt":"2022-01-14T09:56:58","slug":"2022-european-parliaments-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/2022-european-parliaments-agenda\/","title":{"rendered":"The 2022 European Parliament\u2019s agenda for R&#038;I and the environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the important topics on the European Parliament\u2019s 2022 agenda will be to debate and vote on legislative files to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, as part of the Fit for 55 package legislative train schedule under the European Green Deal. Discussions will revolve around emissions targets, renewable energy, and sustainable fuels. Furthermore, as a follow up to the European Commission\u2019s proposal to modernise EU legislation on batteries, the Parliament will also work on regulations for batteries&#8217; sustainable production, as well as waste management of all batteries placed on the EU market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/en\/headlines\/priorities\/conference-on-the-future-of-europe\/20210902STO11111\/future-of-europe-citizens-panels-take-the-floor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conference on the Future of Europe<\/a> has entered its final and decisive phase: the panels\u2019 recommendations will be published into the final Conference report in the first semester of 2022, which will be prepared by the executive board of the Conference (i.e. representatives of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, as well as observers from all Conference stakeholders).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As 2022 has been declared the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/IP_21_5226\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Year of European Youth<\/a>\u2019, the Parliament is expected to actively shape and take part in the many activities scheduled throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Did you know that you can watch meetings of various Committees of the European Parliament live? The next Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/committees\/en\/itre\/home\/highlights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITRE<\/a>) and the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/committees\/en\/envi\/home\/highlights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ENVI<\/a>) meetings will take place on Wednesday 26 January and Thursday 27 January 2022.
