{"id":12510,"date":"2021-12-15T11:18:26","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T10:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/?p=12510"},"modified":"2021-12-15T11:18:43","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T10:18:43","slug":"critical-raw-materials-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euchems.eu\/newsletters\/critical-raw-materials-supply\/","title":{"rendered":"MEPs call the EU to secure its own Critical Raw Materials supply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Considering the ongoing digitalisation and transition to green energies in Europe, members of the European Parliament highlighted the European Union\u2019s dependence on imports of resources and called for more recycling of Critical Raw Materials (CRMs), finding alternative solutions to them and domestic sourcing during a plenary session of the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE committee) held in Strasbourg on 24 November.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As rapporteur, MEP Hildegard Bentele successfully presented the <a href=\"https:\/\/oeil.secure.europarl.europa.eu\/oeil\/popups\/ficheprocedure.do?reference=2021\/2011(INI)&amp;l=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European strategy for critical raw materials<\/a>\u2019 report.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Extremely glad about the huge majority of colleagues (543:52:94) who supported my strategic initiative report on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/criticalrawmaterials?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#criticalrawmaterials<\/a>. It shows that colleagues care about the fact that we need a resilient industrial base for the Green Deal and the twin transformation, &#8230; (1\/3)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Hildegard Bentele (@hildebentele) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hildebentele\/status\/1463559659344777228?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 24, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The increasing use of technologies led to a higher demand for CRMs. By highlighting the need to boost the EU\u2019s strategic autonomy in CRMs, MEPs propose to work towards the EU resilience and securing strategic value chains for a green and digital Europe.
