Brussels News Update - July 2021

Hey, welcome to the Brussels News Updates (BNU), EuChemS’ newsletter for policy makers, chemists, entrepreneurs, and citizens who have an interest in chemistry. The BNU newsletter keeps you up to date on the latest chemistry-related and science-policy news, awards, consultations, and upcoming events in Europe and beyond.

The highlights of the month include:

– the recording of the 2019 EuChemS Lecture Awardee webinar is now available on our YouTube channel! (re)Watch this successful scientific event and learn all about geoinspired syntheses and reactivity of nanomaterials!
– the 2021-2022 work programme of Horizon Europe has been released.
– a new ERC President was appointed.
– ECHA and EFSA joined forces on glyphosate.
– … and much more!

In this issue, we also take a close look at the programme for science, innovation, and education of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU, which has just started its mandate. Amongst others, gender balance is a major priority of Slovenia: the country is currently drafting the Ljubljana pact on gender parity in research.
