EuCheMS has submitted its contribution to the European Commission public consultation on Circular Economy.
A ‘circular economy’ aims to maintain the value of the materials and energy used in products in the value chain for the optimal duration, thus minimising waste and resource use. By preventing losses of value from materials flows, it creates economic opportunities and competitive advantages on a sustainable basis.
Conscious about the central role of chemistry in achieving a more circular economy, EuCheMS also submitted to the Commission a note raising the attention about the possible environmental and economic consequences of the existence of contaminants or impurities in recycled materials. This note is accessible here.
